Uang merupakan alat yang digunakan untuk transaksi jual beli oleh seluruh manusia. Uang menjadi benda berharga bagi banyak orang untuk kehidupan sehari-hari. Namun uang banyak dipalsukan oleh orang yang tidak bertanggung jawab untuk melakukan transaksi. Pemalsuan uang kertas di Indonesia pada tahun 2019 sebesar 8 lembar per 1 juta uang yang beredar. Vending machine merupakan sebuah mesin yang berfungsi untuk menjual barang secara otomatis dengan cara memasukkan uang sesuai dengan harga barang yang tertera. Namun pada pendeteksian nominal uang dan keaslian uang ini terbatas hanya pada kondisi uang yang baik. Apabila kondisi uang kurang baik, maka uang konsumen akan ditolak. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengimplementasikan Jaringan Syaraf tiruan dengan mencari model terbaik. Model terbaik akan diverifikasi kehandalannya dan keakuratannya dalam mengenal pola warna uang kertas baik asli maupun palsu, dengan menggunakan metode backpropagation dengan fungsi aktivasi sigmoid untuk mendeteksi keaslian dan nominal uang kertas. Penelitian dilakukan dengan mengambil data nilai RGB dari masing-masing nominal uang dengan menggunakan sensor warna TCS3200. Hasil dari penelitian didapatkan model terbaik menggunakan 5 hidden layers dengan nodes 75, 38, 19, 10, dan 5. Memiliki tingkat prediksi sebesar 46,8% dari jumlah keseluruhan dataset testing yang digunakan sebanyak 600 data.
