Awal ditemukannya prinsip refrigerasi pemakaianya hanya untuk produksi es sekarang seiring pesatnya kemajuan teknologi, refrigerasi memiliki peran sangat penting dalam produksi maupun distrubusi makanan, di samping untuk effisiensi operasi industri.Terdapat beberapa jenis makanan, sayuran, dan buah-buahan yang dapat disimpan dalam kondisi mentah, walaupun beberapa memerlukan proses awal. Refrigerasi seringkali memegang faktor kunci dalam proses ini industri – industri yang perlu keterlinbatkan teknik refrigerasi adalah industri susu (dairy products) yang menghasilkan milk, ice cream, dan mentega. Industri pengawetan daging dan daging unggas, pengawetan ikan saat pengapalan.
Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui efisiensi daya kompresor dengan diagram mollier pada mesin Trainer Cold Stroge, mengetahui cara kerja sistem refrigerasi, mengetahui nilai temperatur sebelum dan sesudah kompresor, mengetahui nilai entalphy sebelum dan sesudah kompresor, mengatahui komponen-komponen mesin pendingin dan cara kerja komponen – komponen mesin pendingin, perhitungan (COP) Coeffient of performance dengan perhitungan data temperature yang akurat dengan sistem sensor temperatur digital dan Micro controller Arduino uno sehingga dapat menghitung temperature yang akurat dan bisa digunakan memakai komputer, mesin ini bisa acuan bagi mesin pendingin yang lain karena sistem pada mesin ini sudah terautomasi dan moderet.
