Cognitive Radio: Sistim Radio Cerdas

Tuntutan komunikasi nirkabel yang handal dan kapasitas sistim yang
tinggi tidak terlepas dari ketersediaan resource berupa spectrum
frekuensi yang cukup. Pemanfaatan spectrum secara efisien yang
semaksimal mungkin dengan interferensi yang bisa ditoleransi adalah
tujuan penting sistim radio kognitif. Ada tiga langkah penting dalam
radio kognitif, observasi kondisi lapangan, mengambil keputusan
melalui suatu proses optimasi dan men-setting parameter pemancar. Hal
kunci dalam sistim radio kognitif adalah managemen spectrum yang
dinamis, suatu interval frekuensi yang bebas digunakan oleh pengguna,
di kala pengguna utamanya (primary user) sedang tidak menggunakan.
Penggunaannya tidak terikat pada suatu teknologi tertentu.
