Ageism is an age discrimination that often attacks unproductive age groups, such as old age and adolescence. They are considered not to be productive because for adolescents that age is not yet mature to be involved in risk-taking activities, while for older age groups the physical decline experienced binds to the stigma of the community that the elderly are a helpless group. The physical and psychological decline that often results in the elderly receiving different treatment, outcast, and lonely. If left unchecked, it will affect their psychological conditions such as increased stress, depression, and increased risk of death. This phenomenon is often seen in everyday life but some people are unaware.
