HOPE, HEALTH LOCUS OF CONTROL AND FEAR OF COVID. HOW THEY RELATES IN PANDEMIC ERA

Abstract


Background: The Covid-19 pandemic has been and is still going on for more than two years. This protracted disaster caused massive psychological changes around the world. The fear of Covid and hoping that he or she will be okay during the pandemic until it is over, is assumed to make someone will begin to care more about their health.

 

Research purpose: This study aims to prove whether there is a significant correlation between expectations and fear of COVID-19 with Health Locus of Control

 

 

Methodology: This study was conducted using correlational design

 

Instrument: The researcher has collected data using the instruments of the adult hope scale, the fear of covid scale and the Multidimensional Health Locus of Control which have been adapted

 

 

Population and sample: The data were collected from 679 participants above 17 years old, using accidental sampling

 

Analysis: The data were analyzed using Spearman Correlations technique

 

Results: This study shows there is positive and significant relationship between hope and fear of CoVid-19 with health Locus of Control. This study also shows an indication that hope of having a better life in the future has a stronger correlation with HLOC than fear of CoVid-19.

 

Implication or advantage of research: Through this research, we can guess that hope can overcome fear, especially in the context of this prolonged pandemic
