Universitas Mercu Buana merupakan salah satu perguruan tinggi yang berada di Jakarta Barat tepatnya di
jalan Meruya Selatan No. 1, Kembangan, Jakarta Barat 11650, di Universitas Mercu Buana terdapat 6 Fakultas
antara lain : Fakultas Teknik, Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi, Fakultas Ilmu Komputer, Fakultas Ekonomi dan
Bisnis, Fakultas Desain dan Seni Kreatif, dan Program Pasca Sarjana. Khusus untuk Fakultas Ilmu Komputer
terdapat sebuah acara yang disebut dengan Seminar Nasional Pengaplikasian Telematika (SINAPTIKA).
SINAPTIKA merupakan seminar ilmiah tahunan yang diselenggarakan oleh Fakultas Ilmu Komputer
(Fasilkom), dari tahun ke tahunnya selalu dilaksanakan. Awalnya seminar ilmiah ini diikuti oleh pemakalah
yang berasal dari dalam kampus Universitas Mercu Buana. Namum seiring dengan perkembangan zaman,
Fasilkom ingin meningkatkan peserta pemakalah tidak hanya dari kalangan pemakalah Fasilkom Universitas
Mercu Buana saja namun bisa berasal dari luar kampus. Tetapi pada saat ini, SINAPTIKA masih belum
memiliki fitur bagi para pemakah untuk mendaftarkan jurnalnya di dalam acara SINAPTIKA. Begitu pula bagi
para reviewer, masih belum tersedia fitur untuk memberikan analisa dan komentar untuk setiap jurnal yang
mereka review. Dengan adanya aplikasi ini, diharapkan pemakalah dapat mendaftarkan jurnalnya lebih mudah
dari acara SINAPTIKA tahun sebelumnya. Kemudian untuk para reviewer juga dapat langsung memberikan
analisa dan komentar dari setiap jurnal yang mereka review secara langsung dengan menggunakan aplikasi ini
tanpa perlu mencetak jurnal terlebih dahulu. Dengan aplikasi ini juga para pemakalah mendapatkan hasil
analisa dan komentar dari para reviewer secara lebih cepat dan langsung dikirim melalui surel yang
didaftarkannya.
