Abstract

Fatigue must be addressed immediately considering the negative impacts it has on workers, for example problems with work health and safety. One indicator that can be used as a marker of fatigue is a decrease in response time. In this study, response times were measured before and after work simulations in the laboratory with student respondents. The aim of this research is to see whether there is a difference in response time before and after being given a work simulation. The research was conducted at the Industrial Engineering Ergonomics Laboratory at Mercu Buana University with 10 students as respondents. The measurement using a Reaction timer. The method used is descriptive statistical analysis and Wilcoxon. The results of data processing obtained sig.0.023<p(0.05) where the data shows there is a significant difference between before and after, but the data is not in line with the theory which indicates that reaction speed will decrease when fatigue occurs. The average reaction time before working was about 0.596 seconds and after working was 0.478 seconds, so the response time after working is on average much faster. This is due to a factor from the study curve which caused the data to not reflect the actual condition, and the use of multiple signals as a stimulus in the test needs to be considered. Using a single stimulus is felt to be easier for respondents when taking the test.
