Sampah eletronik (ewaste) adalah limbah yang berasal dari peralatan elektronik yang telah rusak, bekas
dan tidak dipakai lagi.Sampah elektronik adalah limbahyang pertumbuhannya paling tinggi tiap tahunnya.
Sampahini mengandung material dan logam yang berharga disamping itu mengandung bahan berbahaya
dan beracun (B3) yang dapat merusak lingkungan jika sampah ini tidak dikelola dengan baik. Karena
sifatnya tersebut, banyak kasus ekspor sampah elektronik dari Negara maju ke Negara berkembang atau
Negara miskin.Reverse logistics merupakan kegiatan pemanfaatan nilai dari produk yang sudah tidak
terpakai. Implementasi yang tepatdarisistem reverse logistics(RL)dapat menghasilkanpengurangan biaya
operasional karena menggunakan kembali atau rekondisidaribeberapabagian selain mengeruk
keuntungan.Halinisangatpentingbagiindustriindustri dengan produkproduk yangbersiklus hidup
produkpendek,sepertiindustriteleponseluler.
Sampel penelitian ini adalah supplier chain perusahaan telepon selular.Dari hasil penelitian dapat
disimpulkan bahwa para wholesaler dan service centre tidak tertarik dengan kegiatan reverse logistics,
sedangkan retailer tertarik melakukan kegiatan tersebut namun kegiatan ini justru memberikan dampak
negative terhadap kinerjasupplier chaindi Indonesia.Dampak negatif ini terjadi karena kegiatan reverse
logistics menyita energy yang cukup besar namun dari sisi keuntungan tidak maksimal dibandingkan jika
menjualprodukbaru.
