Abstrak

Work in the agricultural sector tends to be strenuous and high-risk. This study aims to evaluate farmers' workload by measuring their maximum oxygen capacity and heart rate. This study consisted of two measurement stages, the steps are laboratory measurements and field measurements. A total of 20 farmer respondents' data was collected from the first stage. The first stage showed the value of aerobic capacity was 26.91 mL/kg/min or 1883.3 mL/min. The second stage is field measurement, this stage produces an estimated value of oxygen consumption of 1390 mL/min from the substitution results to the estimation model, where the energy expenditure of farmers during one work cycle is 6.95 kcal/min. The results show that the burden of the farmers is at the heavy work level. Suggestions from this study are to improve the work system and the use of tools. In addition, tools that are automatic and affordable are needed to help complete the work of farmers.
